Description
Early 2000’s Emo rock with a splash of Screamo and Post-Hardcore, with catchy choruses and thick guitars. Himalia’s debut EP “and music in it’s roar” was the Highest selling EP release on now defunct label Dead Tree Records, This EP landed them tours with some large local Australian act as well as opening slots with some heavy hitters from the international EMO/Screamo scene. This success of this EP encouraged Dead Tree to fast track the release of not only the band’s first album but the labels first album. Later on after the release of the album Himalia would go on to be descried by Australian Music Press as “MTV Screamo” or “Pop-Screamo” But during the bands teething days, they were more of a dark and brooding hodgepodge of Post-Hardcore/Heavy Rock influenced by Early Screamo and Emo, with a Drive Thru records approach to choruses.
Even though at this stage in the band’s history they were hard to place due to their usage of ambient noise and drone. This gave them a more Gothic feel that they would carry over into their later releases until their demise in 2008.
